Scenario definition · S28
A page laid out in multiple columns
A PDF page laid out in multiple columns.
What this scenario means
This tests whether a converter keeps the page's reading sequence when text is arranged in columns. The hard part is that all content can be present yet still read wrongly if the order is flattened across columns. A good converter follows the page's natural flow and keeps each column in sequence.
What we evaluate
- Whether text is emitted in the natural reading order down each column.
- Whether content from different columns is kept separate rather than interleaved.
- Whether the page's reading sequence is preserved even when all text is present.
◌Test-case detail. Exact wording, inputs, fixture state, expected output and detailed grading remain at the test-case level and may be withheld while the benchmark version is active. The scenario and its evaluation intent are public.
Capabilities this scenario exercises

Reading Order & Layout
The reading sequence — the spatial-to-linear mapping that conversion is; content can be fully present and still mislead every consumer because it is assembled in the wrong order
